The Tigers added to their already strong bullpen today by signing former New York Yankee right-handed reliever Tommy Kahnle. The signing is reportedly for one year at 7.75 million. Kahnle features one of the most devastating changeups in the game and is a heavy swing-and-miss pitcher.

Tigers President Scott Harris talked to the media shortly after the signing and claimed that “We’re not done.” in reference to the Tigers continued offseason roster construction.

Kahnle is now one of three major league free agents that the Tigers have signed already this offseason, joining second baseman Gleyber Torres and Starting Pitcher Alex Cobb. Detroit has also been reported for many weeks now to be heavily in the mix to sign all-star third baseman Alex Bregman. If the Tigers can sign Bregman it would be their most significant offseason signing by far. But even if the Tigers cannot land Bregman, they have added to an already exciting young roster that was just one win away from making it to the ALCS this past October.
